Genome Engineering To Model Diseases And Characterize Human Genes

Although the human genome was sequenced 25 years ago, our understanding of human gene functions remains extremely biased, and more than 90% of human gene functions are yet to be characterized. This gap in our understanding is in part driven by technical limitations. In this talk, I will present the case for a new set of scalable technologies to target all human genes and characterize their functions.
To this end, I will describe the mission of the MorPhic consortium and specifically our efforts in this consortium, where we develop highly compact and scalable degron technologies for inducible and reversible acute protein depletion, thereby enabling us to characterize dynamic biological processes as well as essential gene functions.
