Program for spring 2022

About the lecture

We employ integrative structural biology in conjunction with molecular interaction studies and in vitro and in vivo models, to elucidate the structural and mechanistic principles underlying the assembly and activation of macromolecular complexes pivotal to immunity, inflammation, and cancer. The cornerstone of our research approach lies in a rigorous and hypothesis-driven interrogation of the proteins and complexes under study, and is well nested in collaborations with leading academic research groups in Belgium and abroad, as well as partners from the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.

We currently focus on 5 main research topics:

  • Protein complexes in immunity, inflammation, and cancer
  • Cytokine-receptor interactions
  • Crystallopathies and macromolecular phase transitions in physiology and disease
  • Protein biochemistry and engineering
  • Antagonist design, biologics, small-molecule inhibitors
