• Dr Reuven Gal has experience in both academic, government and non-government arenas. He served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) as a combat infantry officer and after completing his academic studies he served as the Chief Psychologist of the IDF and retired with the rank of Colonel.
• Reuven received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California-Berkley and subsequently taught at various academic institutes, both in Israel and abroad. In 1985 he founded the Israeli Institute for Military Studies, with Morris Janowitz as its Honourable President.
• In 2002 he was appointed Deputy National Security Advisor at the Israeli National Security Council and in 2007 he founded and subsequently headed the Administration for National Civic Service, under the Prime Minister's Office.
• He is currently enjoying a dual academic position as a Senior Research Fellow -- at the Dan Shomron Institute for Social, Security and Peace Studies at the Kinneret College on the Sea of Galilee; and at the Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Research at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
• He is the author and editor of numerous books and articles, among them: A Portrait of the Israeli Soldier (1986); Handbook of Military Psychology (Editor, with A.D. Mangelsdorff; 1991); Service without Guns (with D. Eberly, 2006); Between the Yarmulke and the Beret: Religion, Politics and Military. (Editor, 2012).

Reuven is married to Ivria, a family-therapist, and live in Zichron Ya'akov, Israel.
